The route leaves Reykjavik on Route 1, crosses the Hellisheiði heath to Hveragerði and Selfoss, carries on east for about 14 km and turns north on Road 30, Skeiða- og Hrunamannavegur, for the last 31 km to Flúðir. The lagoon has private parking for its guests during opening hours; overnight parking and camping there are not allowed. In winter check the road conditions on umferdin.is, Iceland’s road administration’s traffic site, or call 1777 before setting out.

By public bus

The lagoon’s own directions point to Strætó, Iceland’s bus company: routes 51 or 52 from Reykjavik to Selfoss, then route 72 from Selfoss to Flúðir, which the lagoon calls very limited. Route 72’s timetable, valid from 2 January 2026, runs on weekdays only, as a loop from Selfoss through Flúðir and back: it reaches Flúðir at 07:20 and at 17:01, or 15:49 on Fridays, and returns to Selfoss within about 40 minutes. A day at the lagoon by bus therefore means the early bus out, nearly three hours before the lagoon opens at 10:00, and the late afternoon bus back: possible on a weekday, and not on a weekend.

Map of Flúðir: the Flúðir bus stop on Strætó route 72, the walk of 1.1 km to the Secret Lagoon (Gamla Laugin) at Hvammsvegur, 845 Flúðir, and the Hverahólmi hot springs
From the Flúðir bus stop (Strætó route 72) to the Secret Lagoon: 1.1 km on foot.

From the Flúðir bus stop it is 1.1 km on foot to the lagoon, about 15 minutes. A taxi from Reykjavik covers the whole way, and the lagoon itself calls it the most expensive way to arrive.
